1966 wurde ich als Kind holländischer und spanischer Einwanderer in Deutschland geboren. Bis heute habe ich eine enge Verbindung zu meiner Familie in Barcelona und verbringe mehrmals im Jahr mal längere, mal kürzere Zeit in Spanien. Seit meiner Kindheit habe ich leidenschaftlich gerne gezeichnet und gemalt.
Aber meine beruflichen Wege führten mich zunächst in die Werbung, Grafik- und IT-Branche. Nachdem ich 1994 ein Studium der Geisteswissenschaften begonnen hatte, bekam ich 1996 ein Kind und entschied mich vor allem aus ökonomischen Gründen für die Selbstständigkeit im Bereich IT, Softwareschulung und Grafikdesign.
Die 90er Jahre waren für mich prägend, durch intensive Lebenserfahrungen, der Mutterschaft, den Einsichten in die Arbeitswelt in großen Unternehmensberatungen, gepaart mit den Erkenntnissen des Studiums zu Kommunikation und Soziologie. Aus diesen Erfahrungen ergaben sich vor allem die Themen meiner späten aber intensiven Politisierung sowie der künstlerischen Auseinandersetzung.
2002 erfüllte ich mir meinen lang gehegten Wunsch und begann ein Kunststudium an der Freien Akademie der Künste in Essen, das ich mir aufgrund der beruflichen Selbständigkeit zum Glück auch alleinerziehend finanzieren konnte. 2010 schloss ich das Studium als Meisterschülerin mit „besonderem Erfolg“ ab. Seitdem hatte ich zahlreiche Ausstellungen in Spanien und Deutschland, darunter Einzelausstellungen in privaten und städtischen Galerien. Ich wurde mit Kunstpreisen ausgezeichnet und habe erfolgreich an Wettbewerben teilgenommen.
In der Vergangenheit habe ich mich vielfältig politisch engagiert, zunächst in der Occupy Bewegung und dann unter anderem als Initiatorin eines Bürgerbegehrens gegen Kürzungen in der kulturellen Bildung und als Mitglied des Essener Stadtrats. Aktuell bin ich im Vorstand des Essener Antirassismustelefons tätig und gebe Workshops an Schulen zu den Themen Antirassismus, Feminismus und Inklusion.
Meine künstlerische Arbeit ist so vielfältig, sprunghaft und doch so fokussiert wie mein Leben.
Zum einen widme ich mich beim Zeichnen und in der Malerei der illusionistischen Abstraktion.
Dabei habe ich zwei thematische Schwerpunkte. „Intravision“ beschäftigt sich mit der fiktiven Visualisierung von Bewusstseinszuständen und inneren Perspektiven.
Die Frage nach Erkenntnis durch das Bild steht im Vordergrund.
Seit 2020 arbeite ich zudem an Zeichnungen der Serie „Das 5. Geschlecht“, die sich mit der Konstruktion von Geschlecht entlang sinnlicher Wahrnehmung beschäftigt.
Dies ist ebenfalls Ausdruck meiner eigenen queeren und neurodiversen Identität, die ich auch mit Hilfe der Kunst lerne zu begreifen und ihr Ausdruck zu verleihen.
Immer wieder verarbeite ich künstlerische Themen in Form von Performances , die sowohl im musealen Kontext, als auch im öffentlichen Raum, mal in der Gruppe, mal allein stattfinden.
Liebend gern gestalte ich Collagen, die mit Themen wie Körper und Identität spielen.
Oft entstehen sie auf dem Werkstatttisch der inklusiven Kunstwerkstatt CANDYSHOP für Menschen mit geistiger Behinderung, die ich seit 2013 für das Diakoniewerk in Essen leite.
Die Kunst bestimmt mein Leben und hilft mir auch spontan auf äußere Eindrücke, biografische Krisen, Umstände und Reflexionen zu reagieren. Eine goldene Spraydose und mein Fotohandy sind ständige Begleiter.

I was born in Germany in 1966 as a child of Dutch and Spanish immigrants. To this day, I have a close connection to my family in Barcelona and spend several times a year, sometimes longer and sometimes shorter, in Spain.
Since my childhood, I have had a passionate love for drawing and painting. However, my professional paths initially led me into the advertising, graphic design, and IT industries. After starting my studies in humanities in 1994, I became a mother in 1996 and decided, mainly for economic reasons, to pursue self-employment in the IT, software training, and graphic design fields.
The 90s were formative for me, with intense life experiences, motherhood, insights into the corporate consulting world, combined with the knowledge gained from studying communication and sociology. These experiences shaped the themes of my later but intense politicization and artistic exploration.
In 2002, I fulfilled my long-held desire and began studying art at the Free Academy of Arts in Essen, which I was fortunate enough to finance as a single parent due to my professional independence. In 2010, I completed my studies as a master student with „special success.“ Since then, I have participated in numerous exhibitions in Spain and Germany, including solo exhibitions in private and municipal galleries. I have been awarded art prizes and have successfully participated in competitions.
In the past, I have been politically engaged in various ways, starting with the Occupy movement and then as the initiator of a citizens‘ initiative against cuts in cultural education and as a member of the Essen City Council. Currently, I am involved in the board of the Essen Anti-Racism Hotline and conduct workshops in schools on the topics of anti-racism, feminism, and inclusion.
My artistic work is as diverse, spontaneous, and yet focused as my life itself. On one hand, my drawing and painting delve into illusionistic abstraction. I have two thematic focuses. „Intravision“ explores the fictional visualization of states of consciousness and inner perspectives. The question of knowledge through imagery takes center stage.
Since 2020, I have also been working on drawings for the series „The 5th Gender,“ which delves into the construction of gender through sensory perception.
This is also an expression of my own queer and neurodiverse identity, which I am learning to understand and give voice to through art.
I often incorporate artistic themes into performances that take place both in museum settings and in public spaces, sometimes as a group and sometimes alone.
I thoroughly enjoy creating collages that play with themes of the body and identity.
Many of them are produced on the work table of the inclusive art workshop CANDYSHOP for people with intellectual disabilities, which I have been leading for the Diakoniewerk Essen since 2013.
Art shapes my life and helps me respond spontaneously to external impressions, biographical crises, circumstances, and reflections. A golden spray can and my camera phone are constant companions.

Nací en Alemania en 1966 como hijo de inmigrantes holandeses y españoles. Hasta el día de hoy, mantengo una estrecha conexión con mi familia en Barcelona y paso varias veces al año, a veces más tiempo y a veces menos, en España.
Desde mi infancia, he tenido una pasión por el dibujo y la pintura. Sin embargo, mis caminos profesionales me llevaron inicialmente a la publicidad, el diseño gráfico y la industria de la tecnología de la información. Después de comenzar mis estudios de humanidades en 1994, me convertí en madre en 1996 y decidí, principalmente por razones económicas, emprender mi propio negocio en el campo de la tecnología de la información, la capacitación en software y el diseño gráfico.
Los años 90 fueron formativos para mí, con intensas experiencias de vida, la maternidad, conocimientos sobre el mundo de la consultoría empresarial, combinados con los conocimientos adquiridos en el estudio de la comunicación y la sociología. Estas experiencias dieron forma a los temas de mi politización tardía pero intensa y mi exploración artística.
En 2002, cumplí mi deseo de mucho tiempo y comencé a estudiar arte en la Academia de Artes Libres de Essen, lo cual pude financiar como madre soltera debido a mi independencia profesional. En 2010, completé mis estudios como alumna destacada. Desde entonces, he participado en numerosas exposiciones en España y Alemania, incluyendo exposiciones individuales en galerías privadas y municipales. He sido galardonada con premios de arte y he participado con éxito en concursos.
En el pasado, me he comprometido políticamente de diversas formas, comenzando con el movimiento Occupy y luego como iniciadora de una iniciativa ciudadana en contra de los recortes en la educación cultural, y como miembro del consejo municipal de Essen. Actualmente, formo parte de la junta directiva de la línea telefónica antirracista de Essen y imparto talleres en escuelas sobre temas de antirracismo, feminismo e inclusión.
Mi trabajo artístico es tan diverso, espontáneo y enfocado como mi vida misma. Por un lado, me dedico al dibujo y la pintura de la abstracción ilusionista. Tengo dos enfoques temáticos. „Intravision“ explora la visualización ficticia de los estados de conciencia y las perspectivas internas. La pregunta sobre el conocimiento a través de la imagen es el foco principal.
Desde 2020, también trabajo en dibujos de la serie „El quinto género“, que se adentra en la construcción del género a través de la percepción sensorial. Esto también es expresión de mi propia identidad queer y neurodiversa, que también aprendo a comprender y expresar a través del arte.
A menudo, proceso temas artísticos en forma de performances que tienen lugar tanto en entornos museísticos como en espacios públicos, a veces en grupo y a veces en solitario.
Disfruto mucho creando collages que giran en torno a temas como el cuerpo y la identidad.
Además, desde 2013 dirijo el taller de arte inclusivo CANDYSHOP para personas con discapacidades intelectuales en el Diakoniewerk Essen.
El arte determina mi vida y me ayuda a responder de manera espontánea a las impresiones externas, las crisis biográficas, las circunstancias y las reflexiones. Una lata de spray dorada y mi teléfono móvil con cámara son compañeros constantes.
